I was a travel nurse there for two consecutive 13 wk assignments.  I was asked to stay by numerous surgeons and employees.  When I disagreed with a dangerous practice that seriously endangered a patient, I was blackballed by two nurses.  They now tell my recruiter that I do not agree with their policies as the reason I am not allowed to come back.  In my 10 plus years as a traveler, I have never not had an opportunity to return to an assignment.  This is very unjust and sad for the organization.

The ER is a madhouse, hundreds of hallway beds with critical patients. Pressors done in the hallway, patients coding in the ems gurneys in the rotunda while waiting for an ER “bed”- which is just a hallways gurney. Unsure how the floors are run but prob better than ER Bec the ER is always the dumping ground

Responsibilities:
Provides ongoing surveillance of the Dialysis machines, water system, and unit supplies. Participates in patient care under the direction of the R.N. Accountabilities1. Prioritizes, organizes, and delivers patient and technical care in a timely manner as delegated by CP/RN. 2. Assesses patient condition prior to initiation and during dialysis. Performs 30 minute checks of patient and documents any change in patient’s condition. 3. Interacts with health care team to support and reinforce patient/family teaching plan. 4. Assists in planning department maintenance and shares responsibility for ensuring adequate supplies. Performs technical duties related to opening and closing of the unit and reuse procedures. 5. Practices cost efficient use of supplies and linen. Follows established charge procedures for patient charge capture. 6. Identifies potential problems, plans preventative intervention, and reports potential problems with equipment to the Dialysis Technician 2. 7. Assesses water system and dialysis machine readiness. Performs technical duties with machines and water system under the direction of the Dialysis Technician 2 and Manager. Detects water or machine system difficulties, recognizes faulty or inoperable equipment and reports it to Dialysis Tech 2 for immediate repair. 8. Answers unit call lights and responds to patient needs or communicates to appropriate member of healthcare team. 9. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education • High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required • Two years of college with course work in science, medical electronics, or health science preferred Experience • 1 year of medical experience, CNA, EMT, Phlebotomy or equivalent required Licenses and Certifications • CAHT - State of California Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) required • BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required • CCHT - Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician preferred
