The Occupational Health Nurse works assist in the development and implementation of the Occupational Health Program. Implements and oversees on-site services. Demonstrates ability to perform general nursing duties. Performs case management services. Assists with sales and marketing as indicated.

Overview 
The Registered Nurse is responsible for implementing the nursing process based on expanded knowledge and experience. The Registered Nurse is also responsible for providing age appropriate patient care to include the child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient which addresses biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and patient/family educational needs. The Registered Nurse provides critical care, which includes but is not limited to, continuous cardiac monitoring, emergency care management, continuous IV admixture infusion, ventilator management, invasive line management, and providing patient ADL's.

The Licensed Practical Nurse provides nursing care to patients under the supervision of RNs or licensed providers in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines. The LPN provides and maintains a clean, safe, and quiet environment of support and comfort to patients from birth through the lifecycle.
Major Responsibilities

 <li>Assures Quality Patient Care</li>

<ul>
 <li>Participates in performance improvement activities as assigned.</li>
 <li>Participates in continuous quality improvement activities within the hospital and/or nursing unit as requested.</li>
</ul>

 <li>Provides Direct Patient Care</li>

<ul>
 <li>Follows existing protocols.</li>
 <li>Completes designated components of the Admission Assessment.</li>
 <li>Assists in admission, by preparing patients room. Orients patient and/or significant other to environment.</li>
 <li>Observes patients while in patient rooms and immediately reports any adverse signs, symptoms or unusual occurrences to the physician and charge nurse.</li>
 <li>Provides support to the charge/staff nurse or CNA who requires assistance with bathing, dressing, turning, toileting, or ambulating patients who require two-person assistance.</li>
 <li>Changes bed linens on unoccupied and occupied beds.</li>
 <li>Collects and appropriately labels specimens including wound, stool, sputum and urine, strains urine as appropriate. Assists with menu selection, sets up trays, assists with feeding as needed and collects trays.</li>
 <li>Checks for changes in diet orders, monitors trays for correctness, records patient’s dietary intake. Measures, calculates, and records the patient's intake and output.</li>
 <li>Passes nourishment, water, juices, or ice.</li>
 <li>Monitors patients in restraints and documents per policy. </li>
 <li>Transports patients from unit for discharge or procedures. Adheres to principles of infection in performing direct patient care.</li>
 <li>Performs other assigned duties as appropriate for training/competency level.</li>
 <li>Administers medications observing the five medication rights and per FLOYD policy, PO, IV, IM, Sub-q, enteral and rectally. Documents patient response to medication as indicated.</li>
 <li>Administers blood or blood products according to the FLOYD policy. Inserts IV line and cares for IV site according to FLOYD policy.</li>
 <li>Counts, wastes, and picks up narcotics from pharmacy per FLOYD policy. Records and receives report per Voice Care.</li>
 <li>Inserts and cares for nasogastric tube per FLOYD policy. Inserts and cares for foley catheter per FLOYD policy.</li>
 <li>Changes sterile and non-sterile dressing. Checks physicians orders, takes verbal orders.</li>
 <li>Checks MAR and makes necessary adjustments.</li>
 <li>Documents patient records legibly and as required per FLOYD policy. Performs Bedside Blood Glucose.</li>
 <li>Obtains vital signs. Uses the Doppler</li>
 <li>Uses the pulse oximeter. Uses scales.</li>
 <li>Removes staples and sutures. Uses the I.V infusion pump.</li>
 <li>Completes medical record reviews as assigned. Completes other duties as assigned.</li>
 <li>Performs tracheotomy care. Performs suction.</li>
 <li>Uses CPM.</li>
 <li>Uses pulsatile hose.</li>
 <li>Applies an external catheter.</li>
 <li>Cares for a patient with a Peg tube.</li>
 <li>Changes dressing on a PICC, central line per FLOYD policy. Uses the bladder scanner.</li>
 <li>Participates in the bowel and bladder protocol. Competent to apply telemetry pads.</li>
 <li>Uses the FIM</li>
 <li>Completes other duties as assigned.</li>
</ul>

 <li>Provides Indirect Patient Care</li>

<ul>
 <li>Keeps patient rooms neat and orderly, making beds occupied and unoccupied. Monitors room availability.</li>
 <li>Disposes of biohazardous trash.</li>
 <li>Separates and distributes linens to patient rooms. Replenishes supplies in patient rooms.</li>
 <li>Transports specimens if STAT, tube system own or specimen cannot be sent via tube. Notices supply and maintenance problems and reports to the appropriate person.</li>
 <li>Obtains and returns supplies as requested.</li>
 <li>Performs safety/control checks on unit equipment as per unit standards. Takes necessary safety precautions and reports unsafe situations.</li>
 <li>Completes other duties as assigned.</li>
</ul>

 <li>Reflects Appropriate Nursing Process Under the Direction on the Charge Nurse and/or Staff RN </li>

<ul>
 <li>Provides input into the development of the patient's interdisciplinary plan of care. Documents on the medical record accurately and legibly.</li>
 <li>Reports pertinent data to appropriate health care team members. Implements patient care as directed by the Charge or Staff Nurse.</li>
</ul>

 <li>Consistently Participates in Activities which Promote Customer Satisfaction</li>

 <li>Assists the team in meeting or exceeding satisfaction expectations as measured in patient experience surveys.</li>
</ul>

 <li>Continuing Education</li>

<ul>
 <li>Completes competency checklist within first 90 days. Completes unit recommendations within 1 year of hire date.</li>
 <li>Obtains at least 16 hours of continuing education, minimum 10% unit specific Completes unit and departmental annual skills checklists.</li>

Valid, active State of Georgia LPN license for GA locations and State of Alabama LPN license for AL locations BLS certification

Overview 
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for implementing the nursing process based on expanded knowledge and experience. The functions of a LPN are to collect patient health data, analyze the data, identify expected outcomes individualized to the patient, implement the interventions identified in the plan of care, and evaluate the patients progress toward attainment of the outcomes, especially as related to discharge planning and education. Effectively interacts with the family and other interdisciplinary team members to maximize efforts and resources needed to ensure quality patient care based on established clinical nursing practice standards. Works cooperatively with the medical staff and other hospital personnel who support the plan of care for addressing the multi-cultural and age-appropriate care of adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. The LPN addresses the patient/family biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and educational needs while serving as a clinical resource to physicians, other personnel, and management. Supports the organizational vision and mission. A professional nurse can independently perform job functions, contribute to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement activities, and is responsible for self-development.  The LPN will float to work on other units in the organization, as needed.
