Education and Qualifications

  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: One year of experience in a related field required for RN II-IV
  • LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: all Patient Care personnel must be initially certified prior to patient care and recertified every two years in American Heart Association BLS.
  • LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: ACLS - all registered nurses employed in Nursing Supervision, Med/Surg, Emergency Department, Perioperative Services and ICU must be initially certified within six months of employment and recertified every two years in ACLS.
  • PALS - all Registered Nurses in ER must be initially certified. Med/Surg, Perioperative Services and ICU must be initially certified within six months of employment and recertified every two years in PALS.
  • All BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certified personnel are responsible for familiarizing themselves with the crash cart
  • LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: Current California RN license
  • QUALIFICATIONS: Basic computer skills
  • QUALIFICATIONS: Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age/type of patient population

  • POTENTIAL EXPOSURE TO BLOOD & BODY FLUIDS: Category 1 for potential exposure to blood/body fluids. (Requires the performance of procedures or other tasks in the work routine that involve an inherent potential for mucous membranes or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes of them. Protective measures should be used while engaged in Category 1 tasks with exposure potential.)
  • This job requires frequent bending (including the body bending from the waist), squatting, kneeling, climbing, work with arms above shoulder height, work with arms at shoulder height, standing, talking, hearing and performing repetitive hand motions. This job requires frequent transferring of patients including pulling, lifting or pushing a patient side to side, to a sitting position, to a standing position, or laterally. The employee will frequently push patients in wheelchairs, gurneys and beds The employee must demonstrate a pull lift of 50 pounds from the floor. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will occasionally be sitting and walking inclines and declines. The employee will not be driving or climbing ladders.

Job Roles

RN II, Med Surg (AHCL)

  • Assesses patient needs, problems and concerns. Performs data collection in an on-going systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and cognitive status, and including nutrition, pain, patient/family education, family involvement and patient advocacy. Assesses patient, family and caregiver learning needs and readiness for learning.
  • Evaluates effectiveness and outcomes of care given, and adjusts plan of care process and provision as necessary with consultation as needed. Demonstrates succinct, legibly written documentation skills on all medical records and forms. Consistently documents pertinent information based on changes in patient condition/response and treatment provided. Navigates electronic medical record system to document completely and precisely. Participates in nursing research activities as requested.
  • Formulates a goal-directed plan of care that is prioritized and based on patient diagnosis and anticipated patient outcomes. Individualizes updates and documents the plan of care. Includes the patient/family/designee (e.g. POA) in the planning process. Establishes priorities based on essential patient and family needs while incorporating available unit resources. Educates patients, families and caregivers appropriately on plan of care.
  • Implements care in a thorough, safe, skillful, consistent and continuous manner. Delegates appropriately and coordinates duties of health care team members. Regularly helps with orientation and training of new and existing employees and students, assisting them in learning nursing unit routines, policies and procedures, etc. Ensures compliance of team with applicable laws, rules and regulations. Communicates effectively with patients, families and members of the health care team while upholding a positive professional manner and service philosophy. Maintains and meets expectations on time for all competencies, license, certifications and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health (AH), The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and all other regulatory agencies.
