Full Time8:00a - 4:30pJob Summary: The Cardio Clinical Nurse, WC assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process as ordered by physicians for the purpose of facilitating the effective delivery of patient care. This role assists patient care coordination including triage of urgent walk in care and triage through phone conversations with patients.
Minimum Education: Has completed the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing, and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or degree therefrom.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.
Work Experience: Minimum 1 year of related experience, which includes 1 year of experience with basic life support (BLS) measures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways. Working knowledge of intramuscular and intravenous medication administration techniques. Working knowledge of nursing principles and protocols. Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality. Effective and appropriate assessment and assistance techniques required in the medical examination of patients. Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner. Ability to be detail oriented in the examination of clinical and numerical data.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Utilizes the nursing process to care for patients and coordinates care across the treatment continuum including collaboration with laboratories, anesthesia, surgery, radiology, and other health system entities. Applies independent judgement for first line care and triage for walk in patient care providing open access treatment. Educates patients and families regarding procedures, disease processes, medications, side effects and interactions. Handles urgent referrals from emergency room, hospitalist teams, and outside transfers. Documents steps of the nursing process and addresses problems and progress while utilizing proper medical terminology.
Decision Making: Independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.
Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
