Job Description

• General Duties:

  • Provide Phase I Recovery for approximately 80-90 patients, including pediatrics.
  • Care for patients undergoing general and complex surgeries/procedures.
  • Level 1 Trauma center care for ICU patients awaiting beds.
  • Care for patients post-cath lab procedures with anesthesia, including TAVR, ablations, and pacemakers.

• Equipment Utilized:

  • EPIC, OP TIME

Requirements

• Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of PACU experience, preferably with Critical Care experience.

• Licensures and Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Schedule and Shifts

• Shift Requirements:

  • Call shift requirements: 3 overnight call shifts in a 6-week period.
  • No weekend shifts.
  • Work shifts vary in length: 8 hours, 10 hours, or 12 hours.

• Floating:

  • No floating outside of the recovery room area; only within the 5 PACUs on site.

Unit Details

• Bed Size/Number of Rooms:

  • Total of 50 beds across various PACU areas:

    • Gerlach PACU: 22 beds
    • Milestone Adult PACU: 14 beds
    • Peds PACU: 6 beds
    • GI PACU: 6 beds
    • MRI PACU: 2 beds

• Nurse to Patient Ratio:

  • Phase I Recovery: 1 RN to 2 Patients
  • Phase 3 Recovery: 1 RN to 3-4 Patients

Additional Information

• Dress Code: Surgical scrubs provided by the facility.

• Training and Orientation:

  • Acute level care, equivalent to ICU.
  • Orientation to main PACU areas.

• Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced, critical care environment, caring for around 100 patients a day.
  • Regularly manage 2 patients at a time in Phase I recovery.
