Job Description

The RN Clinical Risk Management Specialist is responsible for overseeing the patient and family grievance process, ensuring timely responses to care concerns, and monitoring quality of care and patient safety in the clinical setting.

Qualifications

  • License/Certification:

    • Required: California RN license
    • Preferred: Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM)
  • Education:

    • Preferred: BSN, MSN, or currently enrolled in RN-BSN program
  • Experience:

    • Required: At least two years of hospital acute care experience and a minimum of one year in risk management
    • Preferred: Experience with Midas and Cerner or Midas and Epic
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical risk management support to Kaweah Health Directors, managers, and staff.
  • Investigate risk, complaints, and grievance issues.
  • Develop and present risk management orientation materials for new clinical staff.
  • Coordinate DHS visits and reporting activities.
  • Collaborate with the Performance Improvement (PI) Department to improve processes.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, patients, families, and visitors.
  • Assist in Kaweah Health-wide risk management and prevention activities.

Additional Requirements

  • Certifications: Various certifications may be required based on unit specifics (e.g., ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP).
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam, immunization records, and TB testing.
    • Drug testing and background checks are required.
  • Training: Completion of various training programs (e.g., Workplace Violence Prevention, Sexual Harassment Prevention).

  • Current/valid government-issued photo identification.
  • Social Security Card.
  • State License and verification.
  • Professional references and resume/application.
