Registered Nurse, Step Down Unit
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start: 11/18 - Bi-weekly orientation
Guaranteed Hours: 36 (will accept 48 upon request)
Primary location: Gateway
Charting Experience: Recent EPIC experience required (will be required to do a checkoff class)
Patient Population: Cardiac (post cath stents/interventions, pacers), CIWA/BH, Sepsis, DKA, CVA, CPAP, feeding tubes, crani POD 2, GI bleeds, hypothermic/bear hugger
Unit Information: 16 beds; Ratio: Days 1:3-4; NOCs 1:3-4 (1:5 for M/S)

Job requirements

Minimum Experience REQUIRED: 3 years RN experience, 1 full year of stepdown experience, 1 travel assignment, trauma level II experience
Skillset: REQUIRED- Telemetry/12-lead EKG interpretation, Initiate/titrate drips (antiarrhythmics, Heparin, Insulin, etc.), Post surgical assessment/care, NIHSS/Neuro assessments/dysphagia screen
PREFERRED- Stable home vents, PleurX drain/pericardial drains, lumbar drains, VP shunts, Narcan drips
Must have strong assessment and critical thinking skills
Hard worker, resilient and manages change well, social candidates

NO LOCAL CANDIDATES (40 MILE RADIUS RULE)
Float Requirement: First to float within skillset. Deaconess Midtown (IN) campus (8 miles apart) & potential to float to Deaconess Henderson (KY – 11 miles). 2 HR notice given for cross campus float. Mid-shift float within same campus. Cross campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible
On Call/Call Back Requirement: N/A
