  • L&D RN position available.
  • # of L&D Beds: 16 labor rooms and 9 antepartum rooms.
  • # of OR Suites on the unit for C-Sections: 3.
  • # of Triage beds: 7 bed triage unit where they assess patients who are greater than 20 weeks with pregnancy complaints.
  • # of Postpartum beds: 36.
  • # of Births per day? Month? Year?: Up to 400 per month.
  • Do you follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios?: 1:1-2 labors, 1:2-3 antepartum.
  • Common diagnoses/Types of patients: High-risk OB and routine obstetric care.
  • Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes.
  • Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, pain meds.
  • Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Charge on Both Shifts.
  • Are there nurse aids/surgical techs on this unit? Duties?: 2 OBTs per shift.
  • OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7?: 3 residents and 1 supervising MD on the floor at all times.
  • Anesthesia in house 24/7?: CRNAs on the unit 24/7.
  • RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: Nasal cannula.
  • Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Tele in recovery after a c-section.
  • EFM System: Obix.
    Job requirements
  • Ability to circulate in ORs.
  • Competency in normal newborn assessments and routine baby care.
  • Floating to Postpartum may be required.
  • Expected to care for the infant as well as the mom when floating to Postpartum.
    Schedule information
  • Shifts & Scheduling: 0630-1900, 1830-0700.
  • Self scheduling, can accommodate most schedule requests.
  • Weekend Requirements: Every third weekend, but could be up to every other based on unit need.
  • Holiday Requirements: 1 major, 1 minor.
  • Floating Requirements: Will float to Postpartum, occasional float to the house to be a 'sitter'.
  • How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 2-3 shifts.

    Additional Details
  • Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
  • RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
