Job Description

• General Duties:

  • Care for postpartum, stable antepartum, pediatric patients, newborns, GYN, and Med-Surg overflow.
  • May serve as the 2nd RN in the Special Care Nursery (SCN).

• Equipment Utilized:

  • EPIC One Chart
  • Acudose
  • Philips Vitals Machines
  • Bladder Scanner
  • Medula Breast Pumps
  • Responder 5 Call light system
  • Medfusion Pumps

Requirements

• Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years OB/Peds experience.

• Licensures and Certifications:

  • Active MN state RN license.
  • NRP, ACLS, and BLS required (AHA certification).
  • PALS preferred.

• Shift/Schedule:

  • Rotating 12-hour shifts (Days/Nights).
  • Approximately 50% of shifts will be days and 50% nights over a 6-week schedule.
  • Must be willing to float to Med-Surg & Tele as needed.

Patient Care

• Patient Census:

  • Average of 5 couplets, 2 pediatrics, 1 GYN, 2 labor, and 4 SCN patients.

• Support Staff:

  • Ward clerk (0700-1900)
  • CNA (Tuesday – Thursday)
  • Charge Nurse/Circulator without assignments
  • Resource Nurse without assignment
  • LPN Scrub Nurse without assignment

• Nurse to Patient Ratios:

  • 1:3 for mom/baby couplets
  • 1:5 for GYN/Med-Surge patients
  • 1:3-4 for pediatrics

Additional Information

• Dress Code: Navy scrubs
• Training and Orientation: Equipment and unit orientation on the first day.
• Floating Requirements: Must be willing to float to other units, including Tele and Med-Surg if needed.
