Job Overview for Registered Nurse Position

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Facility: Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center
Hospital System: Novant Health Crisis Response
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

  • Required Skills/Certifications/Experience:

    • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
    • Telemetry and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience.
    • Proficient in interpretation of dysrhythmias and remote monitoring.
    • Experience with Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, and Sheath Removal.
    • Skills in accessing ports, Blood Product Administration, central line care management, PICC line management, and cardiac drip titration (Diltiazem and Amiodarone).
    • Certifications: ACLS required.
  • Preferred Skills/Certifications/Experience:

    • NIH certification.
    • Charge nurse experience.

Job Details

  • Patient Ratios: 1:6-7
  • Shift: Night shifts, 3x12 hours (36 hours per week)
  • RTO (Request Time Off): Maximum of 7 days; RTO after booking is not allowed.
  • Float Requirement: Yes, required.
  • Weekend Requirement: 5-6 weekend shifts (approximately every other weekend).
  • Special Procedures/Unit Details:
    • Monitors cardiac patients.
    • Administers cardiac drips (Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Milrinone, Dopamine).
    • Performs sheath pulls and TR band management.

Unit Systems

  • Medication, Documentation, Communication: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR

Orientation and Attire

  • Unit Orientation: 24 hours
  • Scrubs: Navy

Additional Information

  • Contract staff may be required to work during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters.
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty.

  • Post cardiac catheterization
