Located at the confluence of the Elkhart and St. Joseph rivers in Northern Indiana, railroads previously dominated the city of Elkhart in its early years, as seen at the NYC RR Museum. Today it may best be known as the world's RV Capital, which began back in the mid-1930s when companies first began manufacturing travel trailers here. Elkhart is a vibrant city with a mix of old and new, from historic theaters to fine restaurants and plenty of venues for sipping a quality craft brew. The Ruthmere Museum, set in a home that once belonged to a prominent Elkhart family, lets you explore more of the local history. The Lerner Theatre in the heart of town has a stunning interior and exterior that makes it feel as if you're in the 1920s while enjoying a variety of concerts.
