    Job requirements
  • Number of Beds – 36- all private rooms with parent sleeping accommodations
  • Number of Staff – 60
  • Day Shift – 1 charge (patient free), 1-3 PCTs (CNAs), occasionally a Clinical Nurse Coordinator as extra resource- typically 4 days a week
  • Night Shift - 1 charge (patient free), 1-2 PCT’s, occasionally a Clinical Nurse Coordinator as resource – typically twice a week or as staffing allows.
  • Patient Ratios – Mixed care- step down patients (spinal fusions, chest tubes, high flow oxygen. We do not do any CPAP, BiPAP or trach/vents in the department, they all go to PICU) are staffed 1:3 and basic care patients are staffed 1:4
  • Type of equipment - Phillips Monitors
  • EMR - Meditech
  • 2 years Peds acute care experience- must be comfortable with high flow oxygen, spinal fusion, chest tubes
  • Candidates with multiple years’ experience in traveling are first to be considered.
    Schedule information
  • Scheduling is very important to the hiring manager- she wants the travelers to feel flexibility in their schedules. She communicates with the travelers about their requests at the same time of the full-time employees putting in their requests. The travelers do not just “fill holes” we try to make a good schedule for them too.
    Unit specific information
  • Unit Information: Peds Care 64316
  • Skill Set Most recruited for: (Travel RNs, local CNAs, and sitters)
  • Preferred or nice to have: Will not put new travelers- first contract- on day shift, they must be willing to do night shift.
  • List typical procedures performed on unit(s): NGTs, Foleys, TP Tubes, PIVs, phlebotomy (we do have an accuvein in the dept)
  • Rare- but can occur occasionally- LP’s.
  • Best personality Fit: It’s a fast-paced department- Be willing to ask for help and be willing to help. It’s a fun team and we like everyone to feel like they are part of the team- so someone that wants to be part of a team.
