Unit Information

• Unit Name: 12 Tower
• Number of Beds: 36
• Patient Ratios: 1:4 / 1:5
• Unit Staffing: Secretary every day, PRN techs
• Type of Equipment:

  • PD Cyclers
  • Welch Allyn VS Carts
  • Hoyer Lift
  • Broda Chairs
  • Alaris IV Pumps
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling Requirements: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week block
• Floating Policy: Will float over core staff
• Patient Experience Requirements:

  • Bedside shift report
  • Safety checks every 1-2 hours
  • Focus on communication and responsiveness
• COVID Vaccine Requirement: Must have

Patient Population

• Overflow non-ICU COVID unit depending on community surges.
• Patient care includes basic assessments and maintenance of:

  • Wounds
  • Tracheostomy
  • Ostomy
  • Drains
  • Chest Tubes
  • Strokes
  • Seizures
• May require dialysis or PCA pumps; only drip is Heparin.

Post-Operative Procedures

• Amputations
• Ostomy
• Drains
• Chest Tubes
• Oral surgeries
• Wound vacs

Dress Code

• Scrubs: Navy, Blue, White, Black, Gray, Ceil Blue

Unit Guidelines/Policies

• HAI prevention – CVC and Foley monitoring with standard precautions
• Fall prevention
• 100% Medication Scanning, including controlled substances
• Attendance per policy
