- General Description: Under general supervision, performs professional Occupational Therapy activities consisting of planning, evaluating, establishing and implementing individual and group treatment activities under the direction of a physician.
- Essential Responsibilities: Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position. Interpret a physician’s referral and select an appropriate standardized evaluation procedure. Evaluate patient in the following areas: independent living skills, occupational performance, prevocational work adjustment, educational skills, play-leisure abilities, social skills and various psychosocial skills. Interpret the data and develop a treatment plan involving short and long term goals, frequency and duration of treatment. Assist patient in carrying out these procedures through the design and fabrication of adaptive equipment and orthotic devices, joint protection and body mechanics. Inform patient and family goals and progress. Assist with discharge planning by ordering equipment and instructing patient on home therapy plan. May supervise students.
