Job Description
A hospital in Eastern Nebraska is seeking travel RNs for their HVI (Cardio/General ICU/PCU/MedSurg combined Unit). Generalist ICU and PCU experience is accepted.

- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Hours: 48-hour contracts

Requirements
- Certifications Required:
- ACLS
- BLS
- NIHSS
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year with the specified patient population
- Driver's License: Required at submission to determine eligibility based on the 50-mile radius rule.
Patient Care Information
- Department: CVU
- Number of Beds: 18
- Nurse-Patient Ratios:
- 1:4 for general patients
- 1:3 for post-surgical patients in the first 24 hours
- Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients:
- Intermediate care and downgraded CVICU patients
- Thoracic program, EP, cath lab, structural heart
- Cardiac and vascular-related diagnoses (e.g., CVAs, CHF, A fib RVR)
Responsibilities
- RNs are required to titrate drips, including Amio, nitro, nicardipine, epi, cardizem, and other medications for blood pressure management.
- RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips; remote tele techs are available for support.
Staffing and Support
- Charge Nurse: Present on each shift, rarely takes an assignment.
- Patient Care Techs: Yes, with a ratio of 1:18.
- In-House Support: Hospitalist and intensivist available 24/7, with cardiology on call after hours.
- Respiratory Therapy: Available in ICU 24/7.
Scheduling
- Shifts:
- Day: 0630-1900
- Night: 1830-0700
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
- Floating Requirements: May float to all same level and lower levels of acuity.
- Orientation: Tailored to needs and experience, typically 1-2 shifts on the unit.
Dress Code
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Additional Information
- Radius Rule: Candidates must be outside a 50-mile radius and cannot be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
- RTO (Request Time Off): Must be provided upfront (7 or fewer days per 13-week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved after submission.
