    Job details
  • Under minimal supervision performs nuclear medicine procedures as requested by a physician to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
  • Performs a combination of duties, depending on the area of assignment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients on his/her unit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs nuclear medicine procedures by administering radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Performs imaging procedures using gamma cameras and computer analysis.
  • Completes necessary documentation.
  • Cares for patients during procedures and prepares them for exams.
  • Reports changes in the patient's condition for follow-up.
  • Transports patients and provides care during transportation when necessary.
  • Assists patients by lifting and moving them off and on imaging tables.
  • Cleans work area and replenishes supplies.
  • Assists with emergency medical treatment under physician direction.
  • Assists with the scheduling of patient exams.
  • Attends regularly scheduled department meetings and in-services.
  • Prepares stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials and calculates doses.
  • Calibrates equipment.
  • Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials.
  • Work locations may include one or more outpatient imaging facilities.
    Job requirements
  • At least one (1) year experience as a licensed technologist.
  • Knowledge of cardiac and general Nuclear Medicine.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in cardiac Nuclear Medicine, particularly Lexiscans.
