Job details

Under minimal supervision performs nuclear medicine procedures as requested by a physician to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Performs a combination of duties, depending on the area of assignment.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients on his/her unit.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Performs nuclear medicine procedures by administering radiopharmaceuticals.
Performs imaging procedures using gamma cameras and computer analysis.
Completes necessary documentation.
Cares for patients during procedures and prepares them for exams.
Reports changes in the patient's condition for follow-up.
Transports patients and provides care during transportation when necessary.
Assists patients by lifting and moving them off and on imaging tables.
Cleans work area and replenishes supplies.
Assists with emergency medical treatment under physician direction.
Assists with the scheduling of patient exams.
Attends regularly scheduled department meetings and in-services.
Prepares stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials and calculates doses.
Calibrates equipment.
Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials.
Work locations may include one or more outpatient imaging facilities.

Job requirements

At least one (1) year experience as a licensed technologist.
Knowledge of cardiac and general Nuclear Medicine.
Preference for candidates with experience in cardiac Nuclear Medicine, particularly Lexiscans.
