Job Description

  • Shift: Weekends only, 12-hour night shifts (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and possibly Monday)
  • Ratios: 1:6, flexible based on organizational needs
  • Float Requirement: Yes, will float between medical/surgical and telemetry units, including coverage at multiple campuses.
  • Weekend Requirement: Every weekend

Required Skills and Certifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years as a Registered Nurse, with at least 1 year in Med/Surg
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - Preferred
    • Telemetry experience - Preferred

Additional Information

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • RTO (Request Time Off): Maximum of 7 days; no RTO allowed from May 5 to May 14
  • Patient Care: Responsibilities include caring for patients in various medical/surgical and telemetry units, including those held in the Emergency Department.
  • Special Procedures: May be required to care for patients with COVID-19.

Unit Systems

  • Medication, Documentation, Communication: PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR

Orientation

  • Duration: 24 hours (2 shifts)
  • Scrubs: Navy

Compliance Requirements

  • Certifications: Must pass EKG testing prior to start.
  • Background Check: Required within 6 months of start.
  • Health Documents:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
    • Flu vaccination documentation for the 2024-2025 season
    • COVID-19 vaccination (if applicable)

Competencies

  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required for specific RN specialties.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training: Required for ER and Behavioral Health nurses.

    • Emergency Contact Form
    • Medical Release Form
    • Education Verification
    • Skills Checklist
