Job Description

The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse responsible for providing safe, competent quality care to a designated group of patients and their significant others, based on nursing theory and research.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Deliver patient care using the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care.
  • Assess and evaluate patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement care plans.
  • Educate patients and caregivers about their care plans and health promotion.

Patient Experience

  • Model the tenets of Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care.
  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Initiate service recovery for patients and families with concerns.

Quality and Safety

  • Practice safe, patient-centered care and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with teams to implement quality improvement projects and evidence-based practices.
  • Document nursing practice to support quality and performance improvement initiatives.

Operations

  • Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate with management to ensure adequate supplies and staffing.
  • Document care accurately and thoroughly in compliance with standards.

Professional Development

  • Contribute to a supportive environment for clinical colleagues and patients.
  • Advance clinical competence and participate in shared decision-making.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Licensure: NYS RN License
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years of RN experience
    • 2 years of cardiology, telemetry, or post-procedural Cath experience
    • 1 year of travel experience for travel positions (not required for per diem)
  • Preferred: EPIC experience

Additional Information

  • Average Unit Census: 28 patients
  • Unit Capacity: 35 beds
  • Schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours each
