  • Travelers will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start (with 2 max attempts).
  • There is a pass/fail Sim Lab on day one of orientation (study guides will be provided with first day instructions.

  • Strong post-op assessment and time management skills - high patient turnover unit.
    Schedule information
  • Self-scheduling available.
  • Block scheduling available.
  • 4 weekend shifts per 4 week schedule period.
  • Holiday rotation schedule.
  • Standby requirement monitored by central staffing.
    Unit specific information
  • Nurse:Patient Ratios 4:1 (with 2-3 PCTs on day shift).
  • Common diagnoses/Types of patients: post-op: colorectal, urological, bariatric, hepatobiliary, hysterectomy, breast recon, etc. AND Chemo/Oncology patients.
  • Charge nurse does not take assignment.
  • 2 shifts with a preceptor for department specific orientation.
  • Scrub color/dress code: navy blue.
    Additional Details
  • An ONS Chemo Provider Card is preferred, not necessarily the ONCC (certification).
  • Our unit is also equipped/prepped to admit appropriate patients to hall/overflow space and may need to prep some rooms to "double-bunk".
