  • Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
  • General Skills and Work Setting Requirements: Overflow IMCU; Arrhythmia management; Cardioversion, Cardiac CHF, Chest pain, Renal, Pulmonary (COPD, empysema, pulmonary edema) PE, DVT Cardiac Arrhythmias (stable A-Fib, SVT, Bradycardia) Surgical (cholecystectomy, appy's, chest tubes, biliary drains) Occasional vascular patients, Post Cardiac Cath, TR Bands, DKA. Occasional Ortho or CVA patient overflow- These patients are transferred as soon as possible to appropriate unit; TR Bands, EXP with cardiac drips and hemodynamic monitoring and care of pts post PCI is a must as well as EVERYTHING under the MEd/Surg umbrella, Basic arrhythmia knowledge, Cardiac Drip knowledge: amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, nitroglycerin, milrinone, heparin, argatroban, aggrastat, bumex and lasix
  • Ratio / Census: 1:5-6; 32 beds
  • Unit Systems: Epic (Preferred), Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue
  • Pre-Screen Unit - Candidate will be reviewed by clinical to determine clinical fit, if clinical pass and within Piedmont guidelines, candidate will be sent to the manager for final decision. Clinical screens will be sent on case-by-case basis.

  • RTO: MAX 7 days
  • Weekends: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Yes, within the facility
  • Call Requirements: Call is rare, response time is 2 hours. Travelers typically do not get Precedex, this is for core staff to manage
  • Holidays: If one major holiday falls in his/her assignment period, the traveler is expected to work it. If two major holidays fall in his/her assignment period, the traveler is expected to work both of the holidays. If three major holidays fall in his/her assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two of the holidays.
  • Major Holidays are listed below
  • New Year's Eve and Day: Sunday, December 31 & Monday, January 1
  • Memorial Day: Monday, May 27
  • Independence Day: Thursday, July 4
  • Labor Day: Monday, September 2
  • Thanksgiving/Black Friday: Thursday, November 28 & Friday November 29
  • Christmas Eve and Day: Sunday, December 24 & Monday, December 25
    Additional Details
  • Compliance: Full compliance required to start on time; if not compliant in time the push back is 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule.
