Job requirements
- 12 hr shifts 1845-0715
- Schedules are posted 6 weeks in advance
- Every other weekend requirement
- Holidays rotate in with core staff
- Report is at the bedside
- No self-scheduling
- Travelers can access their schedules from home and trade shifts with staff
Schedule information
- # of beds: L&D - 4, MB - 8
- Ratios: L&D - 1:2, 1:1 during active delivery. MB - 1:4 (couplets)
- EMR: Cerner
- Charge Nurse does not typically take patients but will do break relief
- No Nurse Aides on unit
- Pharmacy hours 0630-2200 with on-call availability
- Common diagnosis/Types of patients include standard L&D, terms, preterm, couplets, general GYN patients
- Transfer of mothers 34 weeks and below
- Newborn care with IV antibiotics and/or short term O2
- 2 RNs and 1 RT present during every delivery
Unit specific information
- ACLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, BLS, NRP certifications needed
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years
- Holiday time off may be considered but is not guaranteed
- Orientation is in Sacramento, not Grass Valley
