Position Title: Emergency Room (ER) Nurse
Job Summary: The ER Nurse is a critical member of the healthcare team responsible for providing high-quality, urgent medical care to patients in the emergency department (ED). They assess, monitor, and treat patients with acute medical conditions and injuries, ensuring prompt and effective care in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. The ER Nurse works closely with doctors, specialists, and other healthcare staff to deliver patient-centered care while maintaining safety, efficiency, and compassion.
Key Responsibilities:

Patient Assessment:
<ul>
<li>Triage patients based on the severity of their condition and prioritize care accordingly.</li>
<li>Perform thorough physical assessments and obtain detailed medical histories from patients.</li>
<li>Monitor vital signs, laboratory results, and patient status, identifying changes and responding appropriately.</li>

Emergency Care and Treatment:
<ul>
<li>Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and interventions as directed by the physician.</li>
<li>Provide wound care, assist with procedures, and manage trauma or critical care patients.</li>
<li>Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, surgeries, or other procedures as required.</li>
<li>Ensure proper documentation of all treatments, medications, and patient interactions in the electronic medical record (EMR).</li>

Collaboration and Communication:
<ul>
<li>Work in collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care.</li>
<li>Effectively communicate with patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and expected outcomes.</li>
<li>Assist with educating patients on follow-up care, preventive measures, and any necessary lifestyle adjustments.</li>

Crisis Management:
<ul>
<li>Respond to medical emergencies quickly and effectively, providing advanced life support (ALS) when needed.</li>
<li>Take swift action in the event of cardiac arrest, trauma, or other urgent health conditions.</li>
<li>Manage life-threatening situations with a calm demeanor, ensuring the safety and stability of patients.</li>

Patient Advocacy and Support:
<ul>
<li>Advocate for patients by ensuring they receive timely and appropriate care.</li>
<li>Provide emotional support to patients and families during stressful situations.</li>
<li>Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.</li>

Compliance and Safety:
<ul>
<li>Adhere to all hospital and department policies, protocols, and standards of care.</li>
<li>Ensure that all equipment is properly sterilized and maintained.</li>

Education and Professional Development:

<li>Stay updated with the latest trends, guidelines, and best practices in emergency nursing care.</li>
<li>Participate in continuing education programs, workshops, and other training to maintain certifications and expand clinical knowledge.</li>

Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Education:
<ul>
<li>Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Licensure:
<ul>
<li>Current state RN license in good standing.</li>
<li>Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.</li>
<li>Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications preferred.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Skills:
<ul>
<li>Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.</li>
<li>Ability to remain calm and focused in high-stress situations.</li>
<li>Proficient in using medical equipment, including monitors, defibrillators, and IV pumps.</li>
<li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, families, and team members.</li>
