Job Description

The Child Life Specialist will work in a healthcare setting, providing support to children and families during medical experiences.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a healthcare setting
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Child Life, Child Development, Psychology, Education, or a related health field
• Certification: Certified Child Life Specialist (Child Life Certification)
• Internship: Completion of a 600-hour Child Life internship

Dress Code

• Pewter pants
• Turquoise or black polo

Required Health Credentials

1. COVID-19 Vaccine: Required, with vaccination card provided. Declinations accepted for medical or religious reasons.
2. MMR: Documentation of 2 MMRs at least 28 days apart and/or positive laboratory titer.
3. Fit Test: Completed onsite and annually.
4. Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccinations (series of 3) and/or positive laboratory titer or signed declination.
5. Influenza Vaccine: Status required; declination reviewed for religious or medical exemption only.
6. TB Test: Two negative TB skin tests (one within 90 days and one within 365 days) or Quantiferon Gold within 90 days, updated annually.
7. Varicella: Documentation of 2 doses or positive laboratory titer.
8. Tdap: Proof of vaccination required.
9. Physical/Health Statement: Written statement confirming physical capability to perform job functions, completed within one year prior to assignment.

Additional Requirements

• Norton Profile: Full work experience with references from previous managers.
• Norton Specialty Exam: Passing score of 80% or higher, updated every 3 years.
• Norton Skills Checklist: Completed prior to start, updated annually.
• Norton Drug Screen: Standard 10 panel drug screen, completed within 12 months before start and updated annually.
• Norton Background Check: Comprehensive background check, completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.
• Norton Candidate Affirmation: Completed within 24 hours of offer acceptance.
• Norton Employment Eligibility: E-Verify and supporting documentation completed prior to start.
• Norton I-9: Completed with supporting documentation prior to start.
• Norton Job Description: Must align with Norton's job description.
• Norton Joint Commission and Regulatory Standards: Workplace Safety Module, completed prior to start and updated annually.
• Norton KY TB Risk Assessment Form: Completed 90 days prior to start, updated annually.
• Norton Work History Form: Facility form must be completed, not employment verification/resume.
• Norton Adult Caregiver Misconduct Registry: Registry check, updated every 3 years.
