Job Description

The Cancer Center RN provides patient-centered care in the Mass General Cancer Center at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Responsibilities include:

• Chemotherapy administration
• Patient education
• Care planning
• Symptom management
• Coordination of outpatient services

The RN will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality care for Cancer Center patients and their caregivers, adhering to ANA and ONS standards of care.

Minimum Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (BSN preferred)
• 1-2 years of experience in ambulatory oncology (if no BSN)
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Massachusetts
• Oncology Nurse certification (OCN) required within 2 years of hire or after 2,000 hours of oncology nursing practice
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification
• Demonstrated leadership and excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to practice independently and as part of a team
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
• Effective communication skills with patients, peers, physicians, and family members

Additional Information

Required Credentials

• BLS Certification: Must be from AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military.
• COVID-19 Vaccination: Completed primary series or up-to-date vaccination required.
• MMR Vaccination: Documentation of two measles, two mumps, and one rubella vaccine or proof of immunity.
• Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30).
• TB Screening: Must have a TB skin test or negative QuantiFERON TB test within 3 months of start date.
• Health Statement: Signed by a physician within 365 days of start date.
• Background Checks: Includes criminal background check, education verification, and exclusion checks.

Preferred Credentials

• Hepatitis B Vaccination: Documentation of three vaccines or proof of immunity.
• Tdap Vaccination: Preferred within 10 years.

Documentation Requirements

• Resume including past 7 years of work experience.
• Two recent references, including at least one supervisor.
• Skills checklist and confirmation of assignment form.
