Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:4-5

Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Young adults through geriatrics, sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, COVID, stroke, renal failure, COPD, DKA, patients with complex medical issues including multisystem failure

RNs required to titrate drips: Yes

Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, Insulin; maintenance doses of IV meds (non-titratable)

Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes

Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: CNAs 1:10 ratio

RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.): BiPAP, Airvo

Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Yes, RNs must read and interpret

Weekend Requirements: Every other

Holiday Requirements: As needed to meet unit needs

Floating Requirements: Can float to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care

How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: First week classroom then 2-12 hour shifts on the floor

Busy patient flow- admitting and discharging within the same 6 hour time frame while also completing shift change.

Attributes that will help make a nurse successful on this unit are a strong sense of teamwork, friendly, positive can-do attitude, engagement in positive patient experience with commitment to bedside report and hourly rounding

Radius Rule: 50 miles

RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
