  • Only child/adolescent inpatient unit in the region. Locked unit, on 4th floor of hospital. Emergency buttons for code blue, in hospital security, and code yellow for extra staff support, life safety desk, etc. Nurses expected to be actively involved in patient care
    Job requirements
  • Acute/inpatient or (state) hospital experience required
  • Good de-escalation and strong communication skills needed
  • Open to first time travelers
  • Adolescent experience preferred
  • Very rare IV, travelers do not have to have that experience
  • Not usually expected to fill charge nurse role
    Schedule information
  • Shifts & Scheduling: 7a-7p, 7p-7a; 7a-3p, 3p-11p, 11p-7a - self scheduling based on seniority, manager to balance
  • Weekend Requirements: Every other
  • Holiday Requirements: Every other
  • Floating Requirements: Throughout the hospital as helping hands or 1:1s
  • How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 2 - 12 hour shifts
  • D/N Rotate - Variable shifts, EOW - 7a-7p, 7a-3p, 3p-11p, 7p-7a; 11p-7a, first to float
    Unit specific information
  • # of Beds: 25 licensed beds; Currently utilize 3 Adult Beds and 6 Adolescent Beds
  • Nurse:Patient Ratios: 3:1 Adult currently (could get up to 7 patients); 6:1 Adolescent
  • Mental health techs/aides present, qualifications for 2 if unit is full at 9 patients
  • Occupational therapy M-F, OT assistant, social work etc. available
  • RT in house for oxygen support (CPAP, BiPAP at night)
  • No tele/monitor techs on this unit; RNs not required to read their own strips
  • Mechanical restraints (rarely) and seclusion used on the unit
    Additional Details
  • Uniform: Any color scrubs except maroon. Business casual as well
  • Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
  • RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
