Job Description

The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse responsible for providing safe, competent quality care to a designated group of patients. This role involves applying nursing theory and research to patient care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Patient Care

• Deliver patient care using the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care.
• Assess and evaluate patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement care plans.
• Educate patients and caregivers about their care plans and health promotion.

Patient Experience

• Model the tenets of Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care.
• Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Initiate service recovery for patients and families with concerns.

Quality and Safety

• Practice safe, patient-centered care and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with teams to implement quality improvement projects and nursing research studies.
• Document nursing practice to support quality and performance improvement initiatives.

Operations

• Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
• Coordinate with management to ensure adequate supplies and staffing.
• Document care accurately in compliance with standards.

Professional Development

• Contribute to a supportive environment for clinical colleagues and patients.
• Advance clinical competence and participate in shared decision-making.

Required Skills

• NYS RN License
• BLS, ACLS, Tele, Ventilator certification
• Minimum of 2 years of telemetry and critical care experience
• Average Unit Census: 22 patients
• Staffing Guidelines: 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• 3x12 schedule with weekends required

Additional Information

• EPIC experience is highly preferred.
• The unit consists of 24 beds.
