  • Patient Diagnoses: Medical/Surgical Patients
  • Required Skills/Certifications:
    • Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years
    • Traveler Experience: Not required
    • Locals Accepted: Yes
    • Skills: Med/Surg, Heparin, Insulin
    • Certifications: BCLS

Job Details

  • Ratios: 1:6-7
  • Shift: Nights (36 or 48 hours accepted; no OT billed until after 48 hours)
  • RTO (Request Time Off): 7 days MAX
  • Float Requirement: Floating to similar units; float at least once a week is typical
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required; must be able to work holidays

Additional Information

  • Contract staff will be assigned to work on a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters.
  • Unit Orientation: 24 hours
  • Scrubs: Navy

Required Certifications

  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for specific roles
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required for specific roles
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - Required for specific roles
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit specifics.

Health Requirements

  • TB Testing: Negative TB or Chest X-Ray required within 1 year of start.
  • Flu Vaccination: Required for all candidates by 10/31/24.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required for travel; must be fully vaccinated for per diem roles.

Background Check

  • Required within 6 months of start.

Education Verification

  • Education verification required for the highest degree earned.

Notes

  • Must pass an EKG test for this specialty.
  • A color blind test within 1 year of start is required.
  • Additional facility-specific documents and training may be required prior to starting.
