    Job details
  • Job Summary: Cardiovascular OR
  • Serve as first assistant to Vascular Surgeon(s) during surgery.
  • Ensure the availability and functioning of surgical equipment used in surgical procedures.
  • Transport patient to and from operating room, preps patient prior to surgery, serves as first or second assistant to the surgeon during the surgical procedure.
    Job requirements
  • Clinical experience as a surgical assistant preferred
  • Certified surgical assistant
  • Certified surgical technologist
  • Clinical licensures as appropriate with the above Education
  • Current certification by the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist as a first assistant or the National Surgical Assistant Association on the Certification of Surgical Assistants or any entity approved by the National Association of Surgical Technologists (AST)
  • Surgical Technologist must also hold a Surgical Technologist certification
    Schedule information
  • May be required to take call and/or work weekends/holidays based on the needs of the department.

  • Operating room environment
  • Frequent and prolonged standing
  • Frequent walking, bending, crouching, stooping
  • Frequent lifting/moving patients
  • Exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue
  • Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment
    Additional Details
  • Extensive knowledge of the clinical aspects of surgery.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Skilled in preparing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and co-workers.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Knowledgeable in basic patient care.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of care to provide on-going patient care.
  • Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining records and writing reports.
  • Ability to analyze situations and apply critical thinking.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
