Job Description

The Medical Lab Tech is responsible for performing all levels of general testing within the analytical laboratory. Key responsibilities include:

• Maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
• Following laboratory, hospital, and regulatory agency policies and procedures.
• Performing cytogenetic testing with a high level of competency.
• Generating and reporting results that influence patient care and management.
• Ensuring efficient and organized job performance within required timeframes.
• Promoting a positive, team-oriented, and service-conscious environment.
• Demonstrating knowledge and competency of laboratory computer systems.
• Responsible for accurate and timely result reporting, including communication of critical results.
• Compiling and reviewing laboratory information system (LIS) reports.
• Assisting with resolution of unusual test orders.
• Participating in new associate and student training and orientation.
• Potentially taking on lead responsibilities in various areas.
• Participating in inspections and laboratory/hospital projects or committees.
• Attending department, laboratory, and hospital meetings.
• Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting laboratory instruments.
• Completing required quality control and maintenance tasks.
• Acknowledging receipt of specimens in the laboratory information system.
• Preparing samples for off-site testing.

Additional Information

• Experience: 9 years of related work experience preferred.
• Float Requirements: May be required to float to any Centura location within 60 miles of the original assignment. Float assignments may include duties outside of original job requirements in accordance with Centura policy.
