It involves 12-hour shifts: 0700-1930 for day shift, 1900-0730 for night shift with a 1/2 hour lunch break.

Permanent staff does self-scheduling, while travelers will be scheduled where needed and block scheduling may be allowed if unit needs are met.

Strong knowledge in MedSurg, Infectious Diseases, and Isolation precautions.

No requirement to titrate cardiac drips.

Must be able to handle typical MedSurg IV medications and antibiotics.

Self-scheduling for permanent staff, with travelers scheduled as needed.

Every other weekend work is required with specific days depending on the shift.

Holidays may be required depending on the needs of the unit.

Callable or standby may be required for low census situations, subject to contract specifics.

Typically staffed with 3-4 RNs per shift.

The unit is supported by 2 CNAs per shift.

No ventilator equipment on the unit; patients on Cpap, Bipap, or high flow are managed by Respiratory Therapy.

Remote telemetry is monitored from the 3rd floor, no requirement for RNs to read or interpret strips.

A Charge Nurse is present 24/7.

BLS certification must be from the American Heart Association.
