Job Description

• Position/Specialty: Stepdown/PCU RN
• Shift: 3x12 Nights (1845-0715), with the option for 4x12s if preferred.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Experience Required: Minimum 1 year experience; first-timers not accepted.
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH (National Institutes of Health)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
• On-call Requirement: No
• Floating: Will float as needed within scope to meet facility needs.
• Local Candidates Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions.
• Pending License: Not accepted; must have an active Illinois license to apply.
• RTO Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days.
• Guaranteed Hours: Client may call-off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without compensation for the cancelled hours.

• Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience
• Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency Response Skills:

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Telemetry monitoring
  • Use of Rapid Response Teams
• Cardiovascular Skills:

  • Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, Sheath Removal, TR Band
• Gastrointestinal Skills:

  • Feeding tube care and management
• Genitourinary/Renal Skills:

  • Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management, Renal failure
• IV Therapy/Phlebotomy Skills:

  • Accessing Ports, Arterial line management, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, Phlebotomy, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC line management, Starting IVs
• Medication Management Skills:

  • Heparin Protocols, Manage Cardiac and Vasoactive drips (no titration), PCA, Procedural Sedation Administration
• Neurological/Psychiatric Case Experience:

  • Craniotomy, CVA, Pre/Post neurosurgery, Spinal cord injury, Traumatic Brain injury
• Orthopedics and Plastic Surgery Case Experience:

  • Ortho Trauma, Total Joint Replacements, Skin grafts, Surgical drains
• Respiratory Skills:

  • Care of Ventilated Patients, Chest tubes, Non-invasive airway management, Tracheostomy Management
• Professional Topics and Skills:

  • Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac
