Job Description

The registered nurse (RN) is responsible for:

• Coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care and patient/family education.
• Supporting professional nursing practice across various settings and the continuum of care.
• Functioning within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model.
• Planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
• Providing leadership through roles such as preceptor, informal leadership, and quality improvement efforts.
• Delegating patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource adequacy.
• Possessing excellent communication skills and engaging in mentoring and teaching.

Minimum Education Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate, associate, or diploma nursing program recognized by ACEN or CCNE.
• If graduated from a non-accredited program, at least one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting within the last five years is required.
• If graduation occurred more than two years ago, one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting is required.
• Current RN license as per state requirements.

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required for Midwest healthcare providers, must not expire within three months after the start date.

Contract Length

• 108 days
