Job Description

Critical care registered nurses provide care for patients with severe medical issues, including heart attacks, strokes, shock, severe trauma, and respiratory distress. Key responsibilities include:

• Assessing patient conditions and implementing care plans
• Treating wounds and providing advanced life support
• Assisting physicians with procedures
• Monitoring and recording vital signs
• Ensuring proper function of medical equipment (e.g., ventilators)
• Administering intravenous fluids and medications
• Collaborating with the critical care team
• Responding to life-saving situations
• Acting as patient advocates
• Providing education and support to patient families
• Caring for pre- and post-operative patients

Facility Requirements

• Certifications: Must have ACLS & BLS certifications (American Heart Association)
• Experience: Vent/trach experience, knowledge of central lines, and preferred wound care experience
• Licensure: Must have NC or multi-state compact RN license
• Agency Requirement: Agency must have NC Nursing Pool License
• Floating: Candidate may need to float to lower units depending on facility census
