Job Description

Wound, ostomy, and continence (WOC) nurses are specialists in the care of patients with wounds, ostomies, and incontinence. They address the acute and rehabilitative needs of patients with disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems. Responsibilities include:

• Providing direct care for patients with abdominal stomas, wounds, fistulas, drains, pressure injuries, and continence disorders.
• Acting as an educator, consultant, researcher, and administrator to enhance patient care.
• Practicing in various settings, including acute care, long-term care, home health, and outpatient.

Equipment Utilized

• EPIC EMR
• WOCN CART with Dressings for Dressing Care
• Ostomy Cart for Ostomy care

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in wound care
• Certifications: WOCN Certification, BSN
• Shift/Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7 am to 3:30 pm, with some limited weekend call
• Floating: No floating to other units, but will address skin issues for patients across all inpatient units (ICU, Step Down, Med Surge)

Additional Information

• Dress Code: Scrubs preferred, business casual acceptable
• Training: EMR training and orientation with current WOCN on specific job duties

Considerations for Candidates

• Candidates should be comfortable addressing skin issues for patients in all inpatient units.
• Previous experience at Columbus Regional Health is beneficial.
• Epic experience is preferred.
