Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) will supervise nursing services and direct nursing care to residents in accordance with good nursing practice and applicable State and Federal regulations. Responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants and LPNs.

Basic Knowledge and Performance Requirements

• Current PA RN license required.
• Knowledge of medical asepsis, body mechanics, personal care of residents, equipment use and care, observation techniques, and nursing theory.
• Ability to comply with regulations, policies, and procedures of the institution.
• Maintain professionalism and dedication to meet the needs of the elderly.
• Good communication and observation skills.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and handle emergency situations.

General Duties

• Administer and record medications and treatments.
• Accurately transcribe physician's orders.
• Update care plans and communicate changes in resident conditions.
• Assist physicians with rounds and treatments.
• Collect laboratory specimens and document in the electronic health record (EHR/EMR).
• Supervise and direct nursing assistants in resident care.
• Conduct team conferences and assist in staff orientation.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment.

• Uniforms: Any colored scrubs
• Shoes: Clean and in good repair (no open-toe sandals)
• Hair: Clean
• Jewelry: No large or dangling earrings or necklaces
• Name tags: Worn daily

Physical Demands

• Good physical health and mental alertness.
• Ability to pass employment physicals.

Additional Information

• Nursing home experience is a plus.
• BLS (AHA) certification required.
• COVID vaccine required.
