Contract Details

Requirements

• Licensure: Must have an active Illinois RN license.
• Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
  • EPIC experience is required.
  • Preferred travel experience.
  • Prior float pool experience is preferred.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) preferred.

Float Pool Details

• Department: Float Pool | RN
• Units Included:

  • 5 MedSurg
  • 5 Med Peds
  • Tele IMCU REHAB
  • Behavioral Health (SR/adolescent/Adult)
• Nurse:Patient Ratios:

  • MedSurg: 1:5-6
  • IMCU: 1:5
• Common Diagnoses:

  • Acute surgical, orthopedic/neuro, detox, hospice, respiratory illnesses, CHF, chest pain, and post-surgical care.

Responsibilities

• Charge Nurse: Team Lead during the day on each unit (does not take patients), takes patients on nights/weekends/holidays.
• Titration: RNs are required to titrate heparin per protocol; other medications are non-titrated.
• Equipment: Familiarity with vents, BIPAP/CPAP, and tele monitoring is beneficial.

Scheduling

• Shifts: 12-hour shifts (5-5), with mental health shifts from 7-7.
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend.
• Holiday Requirements: Every other holiday.
• Call Requirement: Not usually required.

Orientation

• Unit/Department specific orientation includes 1-12 hour shift on one unit.

Additional Information

• Clinical prescreening is required.
• Candidates must submit a driver's license for consideration.
• Local candidates (within 20-50 miles) are accepted.
