Job Summary

The X-ray (Radiologic) Tech performs radiologic treatments for patients, responsible for pre-treatment services and the delivery of radiologic treatment.

Primary Responsibilities

Treatment of Patients

• Arrange treatment appointments.
• Deliver radiation to patients as per physician’s instructions.
• Operate various radiotherapy equipment, including Cobalt Therapy Unit, Linear Accelerator, and Simulator.

Pre-Treatment Preparation

• Operate simulator for tumor localization.
• Collect physical factors for treatment plans.
• Perform dosimetry for treatment plans.
• Take photographs for portal verifications.

Patient Care Activities

• Recognize radiation reactions and provide appropriate care and instructions.
• Educate patients on radiation therapy reactions and lifestyle modifications.
• Instruct incoming Residents and technologists on equipment use.
• Prepare cerrobend alloy blocks and fabricate plastic holders.
• Construct patient immobilization devices.
• Maintain an orderly patient management room.
• Coordinate with inpatient activities for proper patient care.
• Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of radiation therapy equipment.

Required Skills & Experience

• Knowledge of radiologic equipment used at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center.
• Strong patient interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in reading and speaking English.
• Ability to utilize electronic record systems and relevant healthcare and billing systems.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• No prior experience required; preference for 6 months to 1 year of x-ray or radiologic experience.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of standing, reaching, and walking throughout the working day.
• Ability to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds.
