  • RTO Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days.
  • Guaranteed Hours: Client may call-off up to 36 hours per thirteen week assignment without paying for the cancelled hours.
    Job requirements
  • Certs REQ: ASCP-HT required.
  • Required Work Setting Experience: Commercial or Reference Laboratories, Hospital clinical laboratory.
  • Required Grossing and Fixation Skills/Experience: Additive Fixatives, Coagulant/non-coagulant fixatives, Core biopsies, Curettings, Decalcification, Formalin, Identify of pigments through microscope, Incisional biopsies, Reagents types/components, Shave biopsies.
  • Required Tissue Processing Skills/Experience: Automatic tissue processor, Calcified/decalcified tissue, Clearing/types of agents, Dehydration/types of agents, GI Processing Schedule.
  • Required Embedding and Microtomy Skills/Experience: Automated/Manual Microtome, Cuts tissue sections using microtome and cryostat, Cutting blocks, Embedding GI specimens, Embedding large specimens, Embedding smalls and bigs, Embedding skin techniques, Histology Cassettes, Microtomy of Fatty Tissue, Microtomy of Frozen sections, Microtomy of hard tissue, Paraffin Wax sections, Precision microtomy, Removing foreign objects as allowed by protocol.
  • Required Staining Skills/Experience: Cytoplasmic stains, Differentiation, Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) stain, Identifying Artifacts, Nuclear stains, Prepares slides for staining.
  • Required Mounting Procedure Skills/Experience: Aqueous, Coverslip, Refractive Index, Resinous.
  • Quality Control skills/experience required.
  • Cerner experience required.
  • Teaching & Community Hospital Experience required.

    Unit specific information
  • Scrub Color: Any solid color
  • Charting: Cerner
    Additional Details
  • Must be in IL 3 business days prior to compliance HDD in order to meet fingerprinting requirements.
  • Parking Cost: parking permit required, no cost. Will fill out form during orientation.
