Certification details
- 36 or 48 Hour Contract
- 5 West is a 40-bed non specialty med-surg unit caring for patients ages 18 and older.
- Staff cares for a variety of medical and telemetry patients with acute and/or chronic illnesses.
- Staff members will manage titratable drips, chest tubes, tracheostomies, complex wound care, post-bariatric procedures, high oxygen delivery systems and end-of-life care.
- 5 West will begin piloting a team-based care delivery model in January 2025.
- Team-based care consists of Lead Nurses, bedside Registered Nurses, Virtual Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Nursing Assistants.
- Virtual nurses perform administrative tasks that do not require physical presence.
- Team based care promotes teamwork, communication, and leadership.
Job details
- 2 years of prior MS/Telemetry experience preferred.
- Large, urban hospital experience required.
- Must be able to manage drips on all floors.
- Level I Trauma Center and Teaching Hospital experience required.
- First timers NOT accepted unless they have 2+ years of trauma experience and meet all other requirements.
- BLS required.
- EPIC charting experience required.
- Float within scope to meet facility needs.
- 100% NICOTINE FREE FACILITY.
Job requirements
- Ratios: Days 1:8; Nights 1:9
- Float is required
- Weekend Requirement: Two weekends in a four-week schedule period.
Schedule information
- Med-Surg Unit: 5 West
- A variety of patients are cared for, including those with sepsis, respiratory, gastrointestinal, endocrine, and cardiac disease.
- Patients with COVID-19 are also cared for on the unit.
Unit specific information
- Government-Issued Photo ID Required
- Locals NOT accepted (must be more than 100 miles from facility)
- Pending license accepted, but if not in hand at the time of submission, booking is six weeks out.
- RTO restrictions: Up to two weeks of RTO permitted.
- RTO must be submitted with application.
- Additional requests after confirmation at manager discretion.
