    Job details
  • Responsible for the evaluation, planning, directing and administering of occupational therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician.
  • Administers treatments and occupational agents as prescribed by a referring physician to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability.
  • Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.
  • The staff therapist coordinates, delegates and supervises responsibilities assigned to supportive staff, and participates in scheduling patients, as well as all other aspects of patient care within the Department.
  • The OT participates in operational aspects of the department, maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in QA activities.
  • Participates in all infection control, departmental equipment training, organizational safety and fire safety programs.
    Job requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program; no experience necessary
  • Current license from the State of Illinois
  • Current BLS required (or obtained within 6 months of hire); ACLS preferred
    Schedule information
  • Able to complete patient care activities within work shift without compromising quality
  • Must be able to work beyond traditional work hours on all shifts and on weekends and holidays as needed
    Unit specific information
  • Effectively communicates all procedures, treatments and medications to the patient and/or family
  • Provides for a safe patient environment to include call bell and personal belongings proximity, bed rail and bed position, clutter-free area, and frequent patient rounding for care needs
  • Ensures correct patient identification before any medication or treatment delivery by confirming the patients identification band and utilizing two patient identifiers
  • Includes patient and/or family as part of the care team
