Job Description

• Unit Description:

  • Approximately 1450 births/year
  • Large midwifery practice
  • Water labor and water births
  • Birth slings, intermittent monitoring, epidurals, C/S (circulate)
  • Baby Friendly initiative
  • Ideal candidate should support physiologic birth with a low C/S and epidural rate
  • Couplet care and level 1 nursery (stabilize and/or transfer)
  • Block scheduling available if staffing allows

Requirements

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Certifications & Licensure

• Required:

  • CA RN License
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Provider)
  • Fetal Monitoring Certificate or certification

Experience

• 2 years of recent relevant experience in:

  • Labor and Delivery
  • Circulating Cesarean Sections
  • Recoveries and Postpartum
• Additional desired experience with:

  • Level 1 nursery
  • Lactation

Skills and Knowledge

• General knowledge of nursing theories, concepts, and practices
• Medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
• Knowledge of healthcare industry regulations and best practices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Time management and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Commitment to patient privacy and confidentiality
