Job/Unit Requirements

• Experience Required: 2 years of Medical-Surgical (MS) experience
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NC or Compact License

Additional Certifications (Preferred/Required)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - preferred for ER
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - required for OB and L&D RNs
• NIH Stroke Certification - required for PCU, CCU, and ED/ER RNs
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
• Competency Exam
• HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement

Health Document Requirements

• Physical Exam: Initial physical, updated annually
• TB Testing: True 2-step PPD, Q gold (QTF), or T spot within the last year
• Vaccinations:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Drug Testing: 9 panel drug screen required within 10 days of start
• Flu Vaccination: Required during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)

Background and History Requirements

• Background Check: Required within 45 days of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM Check: Required within 30 days of start
• HHS/OIG Check: Required within 30 days of start
• References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
• Employment Application: Complete application/resume required
• Education Verification: Transcript or diploma required

• A photo for the badge is required.
