  • Inpatient Peds specialty located in Bangor, Maine as part of Northern Light Health system.
  • This position requires a minimum of 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing experience.
  • Pediatric Behavioral Health experience is preferred, yet candidates without this specific experience may still be considered with approval from the manager.
  • This facility is willing to accept a first-time traveler.
  • The facility is a free standing acute inpatient facility with an ED that is 5 minutes away.
  • Patients include children and adolescents aged 5-18 receiving inpatient mental health services.
  • Common diagnoses include Eating Disorders, Depression, Suicidal Ideation, Anxiety, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Gender Dysphoria.
  • Patients are offered traditional medical and psychiatric care in addition to specialized therapies like pet therapy, group sessions, recreation therapy (rock wall), and community gardens.
    Job requirements
  • At least 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing experience.
  • Pediatric Behavioral Health experience is preferred.
  • De-escalation experience and experience with physical restraints required.
  • Experience in medication passes, running groups, and documentation.
    Schedule information
  • Day shift RN ratio: 1:5-6.
  • Night shift RN ratio: 1:13 with resource support, including nursing support.
  • Day shift has 6 Psych Techs, and Night shift has 2 Psych Techs.
    Unit specific information
  • Floating may be required between all pediatric units.
    Additional Details
  • 2024-25 Flu Documentation required.
  • Annual Core Competencies must be completed.
  • Candidate Confirmation Form should be submitted.
  • Criminal Background Check Report required.
  • DHHS CPS Check, DHHS Exclusion Search, Drug Screen must be conducted.
  • FACIS Level 3, OIG Search, SAM Screen, and Sex Offender checks required.
