Job Description

The Medical Lab Tech is responsible for performing all levels of general testing within the analytical laboratory. Key responsibilities include:

• Maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
• Following laboratory, hospital, and regulatory agency policies and procedures.
• Performing cytogenetic testing with a high level of competency.
• Generating and reporting results that influence patient care and management.
• Ensuring accurate and timely result reporting, including communication of critical results.
• Compiling and reviewing laboratory information system (LIS) reports.
• Assisting with resolution of unusual test orders.
• Participating in new associate and student training and orientation.
• Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting laboratory instruments.
• Completing required quality control and maintenance tasks.
• Preparing samples for off-site testing and packaging for courier transport.
• Serving as a liaison with other laboratory departments and hospital services.

Qualifications

• Experience: 9 years of related work experience preferred.
• Float Requirements: May be required to float to any Centura location within 60 miles of the original assignment. Float assignments may include duties outside of original job requirements.

• Strong technical knowledge and application in laboratory testing.
• Ability to function in a self-directed manner and exhibit complex problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of laboratory computer systems.
