Must be flexible and willing to float and work when needed

RNs required to titrate drips

RNs must read and interpret telemetry

Weekend requirements: Every third

Holiday requirements: Rotating with perm staff

Floating requirements: Yes to MedSurg or to ICU to take PCU acuity patients

Beds: 40 beds with average daily census of 24

Ratios: 1:4-5 both days and nights

Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Adults, Cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer diagnosis, vascular, sepsis, adult respiratory, stroke, post stent, post pacer placement, renal failure

Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, insulin

RT Equipment: High flow

Tele/Monitor Techs: RNs must read their own strips

Scrub Color/Dress code: Navy Blue

Unit/department specific orientation: 1 week

Focus on patient experience scores, responsiveness, hospital environment, and communication about medications

Different cultural populations are served on this unit- primarily Hispanic and Somalian
