  • A large system in Nebraska/Iowa are looking for Night PCU RN's. 12 hour shifts, 36 hours guaranteed. 2 years of unit experience.
    Job requirements
  • 2 years of unit experience
  • Must be flexible and willing to float and work when needed
  • RNs required to titrate drips
  • RNs must read and interpret telemetry
    Schedule information
  • 12 hour shifts: 0630-1830, 1830-0630
  • Weekend requirements: Every third
  • Holiday requirements: Rotating with perm staff
  • Floating requirements: Yes to MedSurg or to ICU to take PCU acuity patients
    Unit specific information
  • Department: PCU
  • Beds: 40 beds with average daily census of 24
  • Ratios: 1:4-5 both days and nights
  • Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Adults, Cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer diagnosis, vascular, sepsis, adult respiratory, stroke, post stent, post pacer placement, renal failure
  • Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, insulin
  • RT Equipment: High flow
  • Tele/Monitor Techs: RNs must read their own strips
  • Scrub Color/Dress code: Navy Blue
  • Unit/department specific orientation: 1 week
    Additional Details
  • Overhead lifts in half the rooms, portable lifts, vein finders, bladder scanner
  • Focus on patient experience scores, responsiveness, hospital environment, and communication about medications
  • Different cultural populations are served on this unit- primarily Hispanic and Somalian
