Unit Information

• Unit Name: Epstein 2 - Pediatric Psychiatry
• Unit Description: Inpatient program for patients ages 4 to 18 requiring 24-hour care through child and adolescent services. The environment is nurturing and non-coercive.
• Patient Population: Children ages 4-18
• Bed Count: 30
• Census: 20-25
• Clinician to Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 3 patients
• Floating Required: Yes, to other behavioral health areas within the Epstein Units and AMHU.
• Rotating Shifts Required: Yes, up to 20% for Day positions; not required for Night positions.

Experience and Skills Required

• Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years at one location/hospital.
• Skill Sets: Trauma-informed care, patient-centered approach, and ability to verbally de-escalate patients.

Certifications and Licenses Required

• Current Massachusetts RN License
• BLS Certification: Required (AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military accepted)
• COVID-19 Vaccination: Completed primary series or up-to-date vaccination required; no exemptions considered.
• MMR Vaccination: Documentation of two measles, two mumps, and one rubella vaccine or proof of immunity required.
• Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30); no exemptions considered.
• TB Test: Documentation of TB skin test screening or negative QuantiFERON TB Test required.
• Health Statement: Signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date.
• Fit Test: N95 fit test required within 365 days of start date; no onsite testing available.
• Hepatitis B: Record of 3 vaccines or proof of immunity preferred.
• Tdap: Vaccine within 10 years preferred.
