5 West is a 40-bed non specialty med-surg unit caring for patients ages 18 and older.

The staff cares for a variety of medical and telemetry patients with acute and/or chronic illness, such as sepsis, respiratory, gastrointestinal, endocrine, cardiac disease, and COVID-19.

Staff members will manage titratable drips, chest tubes, tracheostomies, complex wound care, post-bariatric procedures, high oxygen delivery systems and end-of-life care.

5 West will begin piloting a team-based care delivery model in January 2025.

Team based care is a group of licensed and unlicensed healthcare professionals working towards a common goal to care for a group of patients.

Team based care delivery model consists of Lead Nurses, bedside Registered Nurses, Virtual Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Nursing Assistants.

Virtual nurses perform administrative tasks that require an RN license but do not require physical presence.

Team based care promotes teamwork, communication, and leadership.

Must have large, urban hospital experience.

Drips are required on all floors.

Level I Trauma Center and Teaching Hospital experience required.

First timers NOT accepted unless traveler has 2+ years of trauma experience.

BLS required.

EPIC charting experience required.

Will float within scope to meet facility needs.

Pending license accepted: Yes, but if license is not IN HAND at the time of submission then traveler will be booked six weeks out.

Ratios: Days 1:8; Nights 1:9.

RTO restrictions: Up to two weeks of RTO permitted.

RTO must be submitted with application.

Additional requests after confirmation at manager discretion.

Weekend Requirement: Two weekends in a four-week schedule period.
