  • A large system in Nebraska/Iowa is looking for ICU RN's. 12-hour shifts, 36 hours guaranteed. 2 years of unit experience. 13 Week contract.
    Job requirements
  • 2 years of unit experience.
  • Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:1-2 ICU, 1:4 PCU.
  • Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Adults and Peds >15 years old.
  • Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes.
  • Shifts & Scheduling: 0630-1830, 1830-0630.
    Schedule information
  • 12-hour shifts, 36 hours guaranteed.
  • Shifts: 0630-1830, 1830-0630.
  • Weekend Requirements: Every other.
  • Holiday Requirements: Every other or as needed based on unit needs.
  • Floating Requirements: Will float to all inpatient units, excluding Maternity/NICU.
  • How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 2 shifts.
    Unit specific information
  • # of Beds: 34
  • Common titratable and/or set rate drips: Vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, antiarrhythmics.
  • Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes- will attend RRTs and Codes.
  • Are there nurse aides/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes- 1:18.
  • RT Equipment: Nasal cannula to vents.
  • Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: No techs- Draeger heart monitoring with centralized telemetry monitoring. RNs need to be able to read and interpret.
  • Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy Blue.
    Additional Details
  • Fast paced unit with volume flexes due to being primary tertiary hospital for the system.
  • Attributes that will make a nurse successful on this unit are the ability to ask questions, a positive attitude, willingness to help others, critical thinking skills, personable, and positive attitude.
  • Work with attendings and student providers (fellows, residents) to collaborate on care.
  • Radius Rule: 50 miles.
