Job details

To provide safe care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with professional and hospital standards.
Constant interaction with internal and external customers to include patients, families, physicians, employees and visitors.
Assists in the coordination of patient care, collaborates with other health team members, and participates in performance improvement activities.
Implements patient care, maintains asepsis, performs scrubbing duties, communicates patient information, and accounts for all equipment and supplies used.
Maintains adaptability, supports teamwork within the department and units, resolves problems, and consistently meets the department's Customer Service Quality Standards.
Performs clinical preceptor role for scrubbing and collaborates with the patient care coordinator, educator/Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Maintains cleanliness in unit and equipment, and is responsible for the equipment used during the surgical case.

Schedule information

Frequent standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, crouching, stooping.
Frequent lifting/moving patients.
Intermittent lifting, moving or carrying up to 50 lbs.
Frequent pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs.
Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity.
Constant reaching with hands/arms and twisting.
Frequent talking and/or hearing.
Moderate to high noise level in work area.
Work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours.
May be required to take call and/or work weekends/holidays based on the needs of the department.

Additional Details

Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to provide patient care.
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
Skill in preparing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Ability to communicate clearly.
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks quickly in a fast-paced environment.
This position has limited access to Medication Rooms.
Exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue.
Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment.
Intermittent exposure to risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
